A graffiti mural honoring SVO hero Ilya Emelyanov was unveiled at Nizhny Novgorod School No. 161.

      On October 1, a solemn ceremony was held at Nizhny Novgorod School No. 161 to unveil a graffiti mural in honor of a hometown hero, participant in the special military operation Ilya Yemelyanov, who was killed in the line of military duty. The memorial art installation was created as part of the "Image of Victory" project, organized by the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the All‑Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory" with the support of the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The opening ceremony was attended by the school principal Olga Bobrova, the hero’s mother Elena Yemelyanova, the head of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the All‑Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory" Maria Samodelkina, as well as activists of the volunteer movement and students of the educational institution.

      Ilya Yemelyanov voluntarily went to the special military operation and served in a motor rifle platoon. His tank was the first to go to the aid of comrades who had been ambushed. Ilya’s crew took the main blow, which allowed other fighters to survive. At the cost of his life he completed the combat mission and was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.

      “When I saw him off, I said, ‘Son, be a kind person, don’t let your heart grow cold.’ And he carried those words through all the trials. He was always like that — with a warm and responsive heart, ready to help. And there, in the very heat of battle, he remained true to himself. Thank you to everyone who keeps his memory alive. That memory for us is like an eternal flame that warms the soul,” shared the hero’s mother Elena Yemelyanova.

      “Ilya Yemelyanov gave his life for his comrades, for his country. It is especially symbolic that the mural appeared precisely in the school where the Hero’s son now studies. We want children, looking at this portrait, to understand that heroes are not abstract characters from books, but real people who lived among us. To remember the qualities a true person should possess: courage, honesty, loyalty to duty,” emphasized Maria Samodelkina, head of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the All‑Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory."

      The graffiti in honor of SMO hero Ilya Yemelyanov is the 342nd memorial art installation created in the Nizhny Novgorod Region as part of the "Image of Victory" project.
