Specialists in alternative energy will be trained in Nizhny Novgorod.

September 30, 2025, 20:00. Society. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, at the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (NNGASU), a new laboratory specializing in renewable energy sources for heating and ventilation systems has begun operations. Its creation became possible after a major renovation carried out under the Strategic Academic Leadership program "Priority‑2030," which is being implemented as part of the renewed national project "Youth and Children."

The laboratory’s official opening took place in a solemn ceremony. The event was attended by NNGASU Rector Dmitry Shchegolev and Deputy Production Director of LLC "Aysi‑Klimat," Sergey Semyonov.

The main task of the new laboratory is to train specialists capable of implementing and developing alternative energy technologies in the housing and communal services and industrial sectors. These personnel are especially important for the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of the Construction Industry and Housing and Utilities of Russia through 2030.

It is expected that the implementation of developments created at the laboratory will reduce heating costs in the region’s residential and industrial buildings by an average of 25–30%. This will be made possible through the use of modern energy‑efficient solutions.

The laboratory places special emphasis on Russian developments. Students will study and test domestic solar panels, wind turbines and other installations. This will allow not only mastering the equipment but also adapting it to the region’s specific climatic and technical conditions.

The educational process will be closely linked to research activities. The laboratory will conduct experiments to assess the efficiency of energy installations, test new materials and develop innovative solutions in the field of sustainable energy.

Earlier it was reported that new classes of schoolchildren have begun studying metrology in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
