A "Chemists' Forum" was held in Minsk, bringing together more than 50 enterprises from Belarus and the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The meeting was part of the first "Innoprom. Belarus" exhibition and was organized with the support of the Export Support Center (ESC) of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The forum is held within the framework of the national project "International Cooperation and Export."
The forum opened with a plenary discussion in which participants introduced their companies and discussed areas for cooperation.
"Belarusian enterprises are among the key partners of our region in the trade and economic sphere, and the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region pays particular attention to the development of our relations. The country consistently ranks among the top three foreign trade partners of the Nizhny Novgorod Region by trade turnover. Shipment volumes are growing, including chemical products. Thus, in the first half of 2025 exports of rubber and rubber products increased more than twofold, and chemical fibers by more than 50 percent. I believe that our joint efforts will achieve significant results and establish new long-term ties," said Andrey Sanosyan, Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Also delivering greetings were Igor Norenkov, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Committee on Economy, Industry, Support for Entrepreneurship, Trade and Tourism; Andrey Dudkin, Head of the Nizhny Novgorod Region’s representative office in the Republic of Belarus; and Maksim Shapilov, First Deputy Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Representatives of JSC "Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange" and IRUP "National Center for Marketing and Price Conjuncture" spoke about the needs of Belarusian enterprises. Nizhny Novgorod companies, in turn, presented their developments and products—from chemicals to production equipment.
Maksim Cherkasov, Minister of Industry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, noted that the chemical industry is one of the region's key sectors. According to him, the region produces almost 10% of Russia's ethylene and more than one-third of its polyvinyl chloride. The center of the chemical industry remains Dzerzhinsk, where five specialized research institutes operate and about 16,000 specialists are employed.
After the plenary session, business negotiations began between Belarusian and Russian companies. The meetings are taking place on September 29 and 30.
The "Innoprom. Belarus" exhibition will run until October 1. Nine companies from the Nizhny Novgorod Region are presenting their products at the region's collective stand.
