High-speed double-decker trains "Burevestnik" will operate on the Nizhny Novgorod–Moscow route from December 3, 2025.
For passengers' convenience, three pairs of "Burevestnik" trains will run daily on the route. The one-way travel time will be about 4 hours.
From the Volga capital the trains will depart at 07:20, 15:29 and 18:57, arriving in Moscow at 11:34, 19:25 and 23:18 respectively. In the opposite direction, trains will depart from the Russian capital at 10:05, 13:45 and 20:15, arriving in Nizhny Novgorod at 14:40, 17:46 and 00:03 respectively.
Depending on the schedule, the train will stop in Dzerzhinsk, Kovrov and Vladimir.
"Rail links with Moscow are important and key. Despite the large number of trains running to the capital, there is, nevertheless, growing demand and an annual increase in passenger traffic. The increased capacity of the 'Burevestnik' train will allow us to meet passenger demand and make the journey to Moscow even more comfortable," said Sergey Dorofeevsky, head of the Gorky Railway.
The "Burevestnik" will consist of 10 modern double-decker cars: seating cars, a compartment staff car, an SV sleeper and a bistro car. Thus, the train will be able to carry more than 730 passengers per trip.
It should be noted that Nizhny Novgorod will become the fifth major city on the Gorky Railway to be served by double-decker trains. Since the launch of the first such train, their route network on the mainline has expanded significantly. Today, within the railway's borders, there are already five double-decker trains connecting Kazan, Izhevsk, Yoshkar-Ola and Cheboksary with Moscow.
