There are currently 50 camera traps operating on the territory of the Kerzhensky Nature Reserve in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported to IA "Vremya N" by leading researcher of FSBI "Nizhegorodskoye Povolzhye", Candidate of Geographical Sciences Andrey Volkov.

According to him, the cameras are placed both on forest roads and in characteristic biotopes away from roads. Priority in placement was given to areas where reindeer live. The acquisition of equipment is being carried out with the support of various programs and funds.

Andrey Volkov specified that the charitable foundation "Beautiful Children in a Beautiful World" has allocated funds to purchase three camera trap systems in the near future. They will be installed in locations frequented by free-ranging reindeer, whose reintroduction is being carried out by the reserve.

In addition to the cameras, monitoring of the free-ranging reindeer group on the territory of the reserve and adjacent areas is conducted using satellite transmitters in real time.
