Former chair of the Audit Chamber of Nizhny Novgorod Yulia Abyzova has been removed from her post by a decision of the city Duma deputies. According to Kommersant-Privolzhye, the resignation was approved on September 24, 2025, at an extraordinary session that had not been announced in advance.
Abyzova had held the post of head of the Audit Chamber since 2021. The reason for the early dismissal was a submission by the prosecutor’s office, which identified violations of anti-corruption legislation. The supervisory authority noted that the official owns several apartments that were converted to non-residential property and are being leased.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Abyzova thus received income from commercial activities, which contradicts the restrictions imposed on municipal employees.
Some deputies proposed a softer option — to dismiss Abyzova at her own request. However, the prosecutor’s office insisted on the wording “loss of trust,” and that option was supported by the majority.
Of the 27 participants in the Duma’s last session of the seventh convocation, 25 voted for the resignation. It is noted that deputies Nikolai Sataev and Vladimir Amelchenko abstained.
Earlier it was reported that Anatoly Nuzhdin was elected the new chair of the Audit Chamber of Nizhny Novgorod.
