      On September 29, the first session of the City Duma of the first convocation was held in Nizhny Novgorod. It took place after the merger of the city and the Kstovo district. At the session, elections for the head of the city and the speaker of the City Duma were held. The chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Yevgeny Lyulin, took part in the event, which he later wrote about on his social media.

      "They say you cannot step into the same river twice. But being able to work in the first convocation of the Nizhny Novgorod Duma became possible after the merger of the regional center with the Kstovo district," noted Yevgeny Lyulin.

      "Today the renewed composition of the City Duma of the new municipal formation gathered for its first session to make the most important decisions. The main thing: Yevgeny Chintsov was unanimously re-elected as chairman of the City Duma. The candidacy of Yuri Shalabaev also received the deputies' support; he will again take the post of the city's mayor. Congratulations to Yevgeny Alexandrovich and Yuri Vladimirovich!" Yevgeny Lyulin wrote on his social media.

      "The deputies' decision speaks of trust and support for the course taken in previous years toward the stable and confident development of the city, toward constructive cooperation between the city authorities and the Legislative Assembly and government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region," emphasized the chairman of the Legislative Assembly.

      "Many remember how the city and the region opposed each other for decades, and that brought only problems for everyone. Today, the interests of the people, not the ambitions of politicians, are in the foreground. Therefore, investment activity is increasing and the opportunities of the city budget are growing," noted the speaker of the regional parliament.

      "Among Nizhny residents, the city authorities have authority, while among Kstovo residents it still has to be earned. The merger poses serious tasks, which we will solve together, in constructive interaction between deputies at all levels, the city, the region and the Russian Federation," concluded Yevgeny Lyulin.
