About 800,000 Nizhny Novgorod residents receive an old-age insurance pension.

      There are about 952,000 pensioners in the Nizhny Novgorod Region receiving various types of social support, the regional branch of the Social Fund of Russia (SFR) reported.

      The majority — more than 799,000 people — receive an old-age insurance pension. A further more than 50,600 citizens receive disability payments, and around 33,500 receive survivor’s benefits.

      Special attention is given to elderly people who have reached 80 years of age. For them, the fixed portion of the old-age insurance pension is automatically doubled. In addition, they are entitled to a care allowance. All recalculations are made without the need to submit applications — fund specialists carry them out based on existing data.

      In addition to financial support, programs to improve the quality of life for older people are actively being developed in the region. There are more than 20 senior community centers in the region. Here pensioners can learn computer skills, learn to use the Internet, receive consultations on pension issues and take part in the cultural and public life of their district.

      Since the creation of these centers, more than 5,000 events have been held, attended by more than 400,000 people.

      "The International Day of Older Persons is another reason to pay attention to the older generation. For us, it is important not only to pay pensions on time and in full, but also to create conditions for active longevity in our community centers," emphasized the head of the Social Fund’s branch for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Arina Sadulina.

      Earlier it was reported that from 2026 pensions will begin to be indexed in two stages.
