      Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin congratulated employees and veterans of the nuclear industry on their professional holiday. This was reported by the press service of the regional government.

      In his address, the head of the region emphasized that the current year has special significance for the Nizhny Novgorod Region. It was here 80 years ago that key events took place that influenced the formation of the country’s nuclear industry.

      Nikitin expressed deep gratitude to members of the scientific community, engineers and workers of the Gorky Region, who made an invaluable contribution to the creation of innovative equipment. According to him, their selfless work became the foundation for the development of safe and efficient nuclear power.

      Today, dozens of enterprises related to the nuclear industry operate in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. More than 33,000 specialists are employed in them.

      The governor noted that thanks to their daily work the State Corporation "Rosatom" continues to confidently maintain its position as a world leader in the field of nuclear energy.

      He also expressed confidence that the younger generation of Nizhny Novgorod residents will continue the traditions and contribute to strengthening Russia’s international authority as an advanced energy power.

      Earlier it was reported that three sites for the construction of nuclear power plants are under consideration in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
