Lyulin: A systemic approach to improving the nation’s health must begin with support for children’s sports.

      The first city mini-football festival for kindergarten pupils “Stars of Football” was held at the Kaprolaktamovets Stadium in Dzerzhinsk on September 25. This was reported by the press service of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The event became the first project of its kind in Russia. It was attended by 240 children from 24 preschool educational institutions in the city. The initiative to hold the festival came from the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Evgeny Lyulin, who that day also addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

      The festival is held to introduce children to physical culture, to popularize football and to strengthen family values. After the ceremonial opening, the participants of the sports celebration were divided into two groups to play in a 3×3 format. The children were given the task of scoring 95 goals in honor of Dzerzhinsk’s 95th anniversary, which was accomplished. The matches were refereed by players of the Khimik Football Club.

      “Seeing with what enthusiasm and joy our little ones play football is a great pleasure. Dzerzhinsk sets a high bar, becoming a leader in the development of mass children’s sports from the very earliest ages. I am confident that today we are witnessing the birth of new sports stars, and for some of these children this festival will be the first step into big sport,” said Evgeny Lyulin, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      Recall that from 2024, on the initiative of Evgeny Lyulin and the director of the Parus Center for Adaptive Sports, Andrey Kuvaev, a project unique in Russia is being implemented in Dzerzhinsk to create football fields for the very youngest. Last year eight fields were opened in the city of chemists. By the end of this year there will be 19. The plans for the future are to equip all kindergartens in Dzerzhinsk with football playgrounds.

      “When a few years ago we began the project to build mini-fields in kindergartens, we dreamed that football would become not just an activity for children, but a real celebration. Today, looking at hundreds of passionate little ones and their parents, you can clearly see that we are moving in the right direction. It is important that the experience of Dzerzhinsk, where even five-year-old kids take to the city stadium, is already being adopted at the federal level. This proves that great victories really do begin with small ‘stars,’” Evgeny Lyulin shared.

      The program of the event also included family relays “Mom, Dad, Me — a Football Family!”. Each festival participant received commemorative prizes and gifts.
