On September 25, at a meeting of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, deputies adopted a resolution “On recommendations to the local self-government bodies of municipal and urban districts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region regarding the start and end of the heating period.” The Chairman of the Legislative Assembly, Evgeny Lyulin, instructed deputies to remain in constant contact with residents and utilities on heat supply issues.
In the recommendations, the parliamentarians propose applying a new approach to the start of the heating season. At present, heat is supplied to homes after five days with an average daily air temperature below +8°C. Deputies proposed reducing this period to three days.
The resolution also includes a recommendation to keep centralized heat supply systems ready for a possible resumption of heating until May 15. This measure, proposed taking past years’ practice into account, will allow for a prompt response to unexpected cold snaps in spring.
“A number of municipalities in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, including Nizhny Novgorod itself, have already begun supplying heating. It is important to carry out this work in advance, before severe cold sets in. This will allow systems to be adjusted, possible problems to be resolved, and for us to enter the autumn-winter season with warmth in residents’ apartments. Our key task now is to keep this process under special control. We will be in constant contact with both residents and heating providers to promptly respond to any issues that arise and help resolve them,” said Vladimir Bespalov, chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region’s Committee on Housing and Communal Services and the Fuel and Energy Complex.
