Nizhny Novgorod deputies have developed a set of measures aimed at eliminating the shortage of public transport drivers. The corresponding appeal to the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, was adopted at the meeting of the regional Legislative Assembly on September 25.
According to the analysis carried out, the Nizhny Novgorod region lacks about 1.5 thousand drivers. The same situation is observed in other regions of Russia.
In their appeal, the deputies propose to include the profession “Bus Driver” in the list of professions of secondary vocational education (SVE) and in the all‑Russian classifier of occupations, as well as to develop and approve a federal state educational standard for this profession, which would grant college graduates the right to operate buses of categories “D” and “DE.” Upon completion of the training, graduates will be able to drive a bus immediately. It is also planned to allocate targeted placements for this specialty, which will guarantee employment for novice specialists for a period of at least three years after receiving their diploma.
The deputies believe that such measures will raise the prestige of the profession and improve the qualification of specialists.
