A chronicle of Nizhny Novgorod architecture was presented at the Nizhny Novgorod Legislative Assembly.

      On September 22, the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region hosted the ceremonial opening of the anniversary exhibition (0+) of works by the renowned Nizhny Novgorod artist, architect and educator Gennady Ivanovich Panksenov, titled "The People's Spirit of Architecture." The event was timed to coincide with the artist’s 80th birthday. Deputy and head of the Legislative Assembly’s administration Maxim Rebrov took part in the opening ceremony.

      The exhibition features works in the genres of painting and graphic art created by the master over different years. The central theme of the exposition is architecture as a reflection of the history, traditions and cultural code of the people. Through his paintings, Gennady Panksenov invites the viewer to see wooden architecture, ancient churches and the streets of provincial towns not merely as buildings, but as living witnesses of an era, filled with a special soulfulness and memory.

      The author of the works, Gennady Panksenov, shared his view on his art: "For me, architecture is a living matter that preserves the memory and soul of the people. In my works I try to capture not just buildings, but that unique condition of light, atmosphere and emotions that struck me during my travels through Russian towns. I am endlessly grateful to fate for the opportunity to see world masterpieces, but our heritage — the churches of Ryazan, Veliky Novgorod, Rostov — is an inexhaustible source of inspiration, beauty and strength that we must preserve and pass on to future generations."

      The exhibition will be open to guests of the regional parliament by prior arrangement until October 6. 0+

I am convinced that his works, distinguished by complex coloring and an expressive manner, will be of interest both to professionals and to everyone interested in art, history and the unique architecture of our region," noted Maxim Rebrov.

      Gennady Ivanovich Panksenov is a significant figure in the cultural and academic life of Nizhny Novgorod. His unique creative biography harmoniously combines the scientific approach of an architect-researcher with the emotional perception of a painter. He is a member of two leading creative unions in Russia: the Union of Artists of Russia (СХР) and the Creative Union of Artists of Russia (ТСХР), which underscores his high professional status and recognition in the artistic community. Panksenov holds a Candidate of Architecture degree, is a professor, and for many years has headed the Department of Drawing and Painting at the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (NNGASU), having trained several generations of talented architects and designers.
