      Police have solved a series of thefts in the shopping centers of Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      According to the agency, a sales consultant at a shopping center on Moskovskoye Highway contacted the police and reported the theft of a phone from a mobile phone store. The woman said the perpetrator took advantage of her being distracted, slightly opened the flap of an unlocked display case and stole a phone worth 22,900 rubles.

      During the investigation it turned out that the perpetrator was a 36-year-old resident of the Kanavinsky District. He admitted his guilt in the crime. In addition, the man was found to be involved in a series of thefts of gold items from the city's jewelry stores. Thus, he stole a gold chain worth 88,000 rubles from a shop in the Kanavinsky District and a 9-gram bracelet from a shop in the Sormovsky District worth 182,200 rubles. The total amount of damage caused amounted to 293,000 rubles. The police continue to investigate the criminal case in order to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
