A camera trap installed in the Krasnobakovsky Forest of the Nizhny Novgorod Region recorded three representatives of the local fauna at once — a lynx, a raccoon dog and a fox.
A video featuring the wild animals was published on the Telegram channel of the regional Ministry of Forestry. The footage shows the animals taking turns approaching a feeder set up for winter supplementation.
As the ministry explained, the use of camera traps allows specialists to observe the behavior of wild animals, track their migration routes and determine their habitats.
The collected data help form an accurate picture of population status and take timely measures to protect and conserve them.
According to the results of state monitoring for the current year, the Nizhny Novgorod Region is home to 622 lynxes, 384 raccoon dogs and 2,959 foxes.
Earlier it was reported that in the Lukoyanovsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod Region local residents spotted a female bear with two cubs near the settlement named after Stepan Razin.
