      Two residents of Dzerzhinsk have been sent to a penal colony for a deadly beating motivated by jealousy, the regional office of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported.

      The tragedy occurred on 3 March 2025 near one of the houses on Sitnova Street. Two men, during a quarrel driven by jealousy, attacked an acquaintance and brutally beat him. The victim subsequently died in hospital from his injuries.

      The court found the evidence gathered by the investigation sufficient to deliver a guilty verdict. One of the convicted was sentenced to 9.5 years of imprisonment, the other to 8.5 years. Both will serve their sentences in a maximum-security penal colony.

      Earlier it was reported that a woman from Sokolsky District was sentenced to 9 years for killing her partner.
