A 65-year-old resident of Sarov transferred 167,000 rubles to fraudsters while trying to buy a snowmobile online, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.
The man found an ad for the equipment on one of the websites and messaged the seller. The interlocutor persuaded the Nizhny Novgorod resident to transfer full prepayment for the item, assuring him that he would send the parcel after receiving the money. As soon as the scammer got what he wanted, he immediately stopped responding.
The deceived man immediately went to the police. A criminal case was opened on the charge of "Fraud." The police are searching for the perpetrator.
