NTA-Privolzhye – The Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region supported a draft law on free use of toll roads by participants in the special military operation (SMO). According to the press service of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the regional parliament supported a federal bill to grant participants in the SMO the right to travel free of charge on toll roads. The same benefit is proposed to be extended to combat veterans who have three or more minor children. It is noted that current legislation already provides a number of benefits for various categories of citizens; however, large families of SMO participants and combat veterans have so far not been exempted from toll charges on toll roads. As the parliamentarians emphasize, the bill is intended to fill this gap and strengthen the system of social guarantees for defenders of the Fatherland and their families. It is further clarified that, in fact, the initiative will not require additional expenditures from the federal budget. The question of compensation will be resolved at the level of the owners of the highways. Following the discussion, it was decided to prepare and send a positive review of the bill to the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
