      On September 18, the ceremonial opening of the Gathering of the World Youth Festival (12+) took place at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair. The venue brought together 2,000 participants — young people from all regions of Russia and from 120 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin and North America.

      The Gathering’s participants included young leaders developing in seven areas: media, creative industries and the arts, public administration, entrepreneurship, sports, education and science, and digitalization and IT.

      Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin noted that one of the main tasks of the Gathering is to strengthen international youth cooperation. In his words, for each participant these days will be remembered not only for the educational events but also for the special atmosphere of “100% real Russia.”

      At the opening, young people were treated to an entertainment program featuring performances by various creative groups, as well as show-business star Timur Rodriguez.
