Deputy Bessarab explained how pensions are calculated for Russian women with many children.

      Military correspondent Alexey Zhivov said that in modern Russia social policy contributes to childlessness, since the existing system of pension savings and labor contributions makes large families economically unprofitable.

      In a lengthy post on his Telegram channel he stressed that a woman raising two or more children is forced to reduce her employment, and if she devotes herself entirely to childcare she receives a minimal pension. The war correspondent believes that to stimulate demographic growth it is necessary to carry out a radical reform of the pension savings system that would take into account the interests of large families.

      Svetlana Bessarab, a State Duma member for labor, disagreed with Zhivov's opinion. In an interview with the "360" TV channel she said that work is underway to increase the prestige and benefits of "working" as a mother of many children.

      The deputy explained that individual pension coefficients (IPKs) are credited for childcare, which depend on the number of children. For the first child 1.8 points per year are credited, for the second — 3.6, and for the third and subsequent children — 5.4 points. This means that childcare can even be more advantageous than the average salary.

      To obtain the maximum number of points it is desirable for a woman to have a work record before maternity leave. This will allow her to accumulate a sufficient number of points to retire even without returning to work after the birth of the children.

      Bessarab believes that the state is creating favorable conditions for large families.
