An automated system for recording violations on the dedicated lane for public transport has begun operating in Nizhny Novgorod. The new equipment has been installed on Lenin Avenue.
According to the region's Center for Transport Systems Development (CTSD), the introduction of the camera is aimed at increasing the road's capacity and improving conditions for urban public transport movement.
The photo and video enforcement system will promptly identify drivers who violate the rules by driving in the dedicated lane. According to specialists, this will help ensure priority for buses and trolleybuses and reduce congestion.
In addition, the use of cameras increases overall road discipline and contributes to improved road safety.
The CTSD reminded that drivers face a fine of 2,250 rubles for driving in a lane designated exclusively for public transport.
Earlier, cameras in Nizhny Novgorod began recording drivers using phones on Gagarin Avenue and the Oksky exit.
It was also reported that a mobile traffic violation camera started operating on Plotnichny Lane in Nizhny Novgorod.
