SocietyIn Nizhny Novgorod, three new photo and video monitoring complexes tracking traffic violations related to the use of mobile phones while driving have started operating. This was reported by CRTS.
According to it, the cameras are installed on some of the city's busiest sections — the Oksky exit and Gagarin Avenue. They record instances when a driver holds a phone in their hand while driving. Such behavior is considered a violation, even if the call is short or there is no text entry.
Traffic rules allow the use of a mobile phone only with a headset or via speakerphone. An administrative fine of 1,500 rubles is provided for a violation.
CRTS reminded that a similar complex was installed last week in the Volodarsky municipal district, and in less than seven days all four cameras recorded more than 200 cases of phone use while driving.
It was previously reported that a mobile camera will start operating in Plotnichny Lane because of parking violators.
