      Police officers detained a 29-year-old resident of Balakhna suspected of intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm on a resident of the Gorodetsky district. According to the Nizhny Novgorod Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the crime occurred in July 2025 on a riverbank, where a conflict broke out between two acquaintances.

      The victim, a 44-year-old local resident, was hospitalized at the end of August. Doctors reported to the police about the nature of his injuries, which, according to preliminary data, were sustained as a result of a beating.

      During the investigation, law enforcement officers established that the injuries that caused grievous bodily harm were inflicted during an altercation. A forensic medical examination confirmed the severity of the injuries.

      The suspect, a man with no previous convictions, was promptly detained. During questioning he admitted his guilt. A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — "Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm."

      The suspect is currently under a written undertaking not to leave and to observe proper behavior. He faces up to eight years in prison. Investigative actions continue.
