      Incidents. In Nizhny Novgorod, police officers solved a case of the unlawful appropriation of a vehicle belonging to one of the city's organizations.

      As reported by Police Department No. 1 of the Russian Interior Ministry in Nizhny Novgorod, the company's driver contacted law enforcement to report a theft. The man said that the previous evening he had parked the company GAZelle near his home on Monchegorskaya Street, but in the morning found that the vehicle had disappeared.

      An investigation into the incident has opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — "Unlawful appropriation of a vehicle without intent to steal."

      During operational-search activities, criminal investigators established the identity of the alleged car thief. He turned out to be a 36-year-old resident of Nizhny Novgorod who lived in the immediate vicinity of the scene.

      Later, officers found the missing GAZelle in the settlement of Gavrilovka — not far from the detained man's relative's house. According to the police, the vehicle was not equipped with an alarm system, which likely made the offender's task easier. Judging by footage from the scene, the vehicle had become stuck in sand.

      At present the suspect has been placed under a written undertaking not to leave the jurisdiction and to observe proper conduct. He faces up to three years' imprisonment under the penalties of the article being investigated.

      Earlier it was reported that a drunk resident of Shakhunya in the Nizhny Novgorod region stole a car and was involved in an accident.
