The start date of the 2025/2026 heating season in Nizhny Novgorod has been announced.

      Society. In Nizhny Novgorod the heating season will begin on September 23. This was announced on his Telegram channel by Mayor Yuri Shalabaev.

      According to him, heat will be supplied to homes and social facilities in advance while the weather remains relatively warm. This step will allow the operation of the entire system to be adjusted before the expected cold snap in early October.

      The mayor noted that 259 heat sources are involved in the preparations — from combined heat and power plants and boiler houses to extended heating networks totaling 2,717 kilometers. More than eight thousand apartment buildings will be supplied with heat, as well as educational and healthcare institutions.

      "As in previous years, we do not wait for the formal standard, when the average daily temperature stays below 8 degrees Celsius for five consecutive days. We start the heating earlier so that residents, schoolchildren and hospital patients feel comfortable," Shalabaev emphasized.

      Earlier it emerged that in Dzerzhinsk and Bor the heating season was decided to begin on September 22.

      It was also reported that Teploenergo has completed preparations for the winter.
