MegaFon improved network coverage in one of the most picturesque villages on the high bank of the Volga.

      MegaFon's engineers launched a new base station in the village of Okinino in the Lyskovsky District of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The new equipment operates across several LTE frequency bands, which has increased the reliability of voice calls and provided mobile internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

      The village of Okinino is located on a high bank of the Volga, surrounded by forests rich in mushrooms and berries. Partly for this reason, the picturesque settlement is very popular with dacha owners — they make up the majority of the residents.

      Nature tourism enthusiasts also pay increased attention to these areas. The outskirts of Okinino are planned to be traversed by what will be the longest eco-trail in Russia. The project to create ecological routes along Europe’s longest river is being implemented with the support of the Russian Geographical Society. It is expected to be 4,000 kilometers long and will pass through 15 regions of Russia. Several initial sections are already open to visitors.

      It should be added that since the beginning of autumn the new base station has also begun operating in the rural settlement of Dubrava in the Dalnekonstantinovsky District. More than 1,500 people live there, who will now also be able to use mobile internet at speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
