35 children's playgrounds have been renovated as part of the "Save Nizhny" project.

Thirty-five playgrounds across all districts of Nizhny Novgorod have been transformed as part of the "Save Nizhny" project. According to the Department of Social Communications and Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod city administration, residents chose the sites themselves and submitted applications to participate in the project through TOS councils or neighborhood centers.

According to Oksana Dektereva, director of the ANO "Public Self-Governance of Nizhny Novgorod," more than 500 Nizhny Novgorod residents took part in the project this year. "This summer, together with residents, we put 35 playgrounds in order: we painted benches and playground structures, installed new sandboxes, repaired swings. It's great that Nizhny Novgorod residents initiate such actions themselves and actively participate in them. On our part we organize the entire process: with the support of the city administration we buy tools and paint, and together with residents we come and work on the site," she said.

As Maria Samodelkina, chair of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory," noted, the "Save Nizhny" project has been implemented for four years. "The city administration and the mayor, Yuri Shalabaev, personally actively support our project, which has received a strong response from Nizhny Novgorod residents. Next year we plan to continue improving playgrounds together with residents," she said.

Nizhny Novgorod residents said that "Save Nizhny" not only helps keep yards and playgrounds in order, but also brings local residents together to take part in a common good cause. "Our building is 20 years old, and we usually do some minor restoration on the adjacent territory at community clean-up days in April. This year we learned about the project — that the team comes with its own paint and tools — and we were very interested. Thank you for coming and helping to make things beautiful," said Nizhny Novgorod resident Dina Fokina.

"It's very pleasant that caring people take part in the campaign. When Nizhny Novgorod residents and young people see such an example, they want to take care of their own yards and help bring them into order. These are our own homes, our yards. We are putting playgrounds in order for our own children," said campaign participant Nelli Simakina.

It should be recalled that the project is being implemented by the ANO "Public Self-Governance of Nizhny Novgorod" together with the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory," with the support of the Nizhny Novgorod administration. To join the project or submit an application to transform a residential area, call: 410-81-10, or contact the territorial public self-government council of your district.
