Illegal garbage dumping was discovered at the Shuvalovsky Canal in Nizhny Novgorod.

      In the Avtozavodsky district of Nizhny Novgorod, an incident of unauthorized waste dumping was recorded near the Shuvalovsky Canal. The violation was detected during a joint raid by employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the police and specialists from the State Budgetary Institution "Ecology of the Region."

      At the scene, inspectors found a cargo vehicle from which garbage was being unloaded onto the adjacent territory. As a result of the inspection, an administrative offense case was initiated against the driver.

      According to current legislation, namely the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation, such actions are punishable: for individuals — a fine of up to 50,000 rubles, for legal entities — up to 120,000 rubles.

      The vehicle that violated the law was towed and placed in a specialized impound lot.

      The regional Ministry of Ecology emphasized that such raids will continue. The agency intends to continue to systematically combat illegal waste placement and the elimination of spontaneous dumps in the region.

      Earlier it was reported that inspectors from Rosprirodnadzor had found soil contamination at a municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
