      In 2025 the most in-demand names for boys among Nizhny Novgorod residents remain Mikhail, Alexander and Artem. This was reported by the Main Civil Registry Office (ZAGS) of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The top ten popular male names also included Timofey, Ivan, Matvey, Maxim, Lev, Dmitry and Roman.

      Among girls the leaders are Anna, Sofia and Victoria. In addition, the top ten included Eva, Maria, Varvara, Vasilisa, Ksenia, Valeria and Alisa.

      The civil registry office notes a steady interest among parents in Old Slavic names. This year children were given names Elisey, Dobrynya, Korniliy, Panteleimon, Spiridon, Svyatoslav, Svetozar, Vlademira, Fevronia, Zlatoslava, Vesnyana, Efrosinia, Matrona and Lyubava.

      Alongside traditional names there are also rare, unusual options. Since the beginning of the year boys named Flavian, August, Felix, Cosmos and Aristarch have appeared in the region, and among girls Georgina, Severina, Camellia, Mirabel and Viorica have been registered.

      In spring it was reported that Cassandra and Sheldon were born in the region.
