The speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Evgeny Lyulin, highly praised the organization of the elections in the region. He shared his opinion on social media, stressing that the voting proceeded calmly and without serious violations.
According to Lyulin, against the backdrop of incidents in other regions — such as cyberattacks on the CEC website, the appearance of a fake candidate in Sevastopol and a conflict at the Saratov election commission — the Nizhny Novgorod Region looked like "a bastion of stability."
He noted that 29 election campaigns were taking place simultaneously in the region. Residents were electing deputies in dozens of districts, including the largest cities — Nizhny Novgorod, Dzerzhinsk and Bor. Despite high turnout, no serious incidents were recorded.
"Passions, of course, were running high, but within the bounds of the law," the speaker of the Legislative Assembly said.
Lyulin also shared his impressions from visiting a polling station. According to him, voters approached their choice consciously.
"People voted not with their hearts but with their heads — and that is correct. After all, those we elect will have to decide the most important issues: from utilities to public amenities. Such decisions cannot be entrusted to random people," he emphasized.
Separately, the speaker of the Legislative Assembly noted the participation of young people in the election campaign. In his view, this indicates positive changes.
"According to the CEC, the share of candidates under 35 years old nationwide has grown to 22%. I am sure this figure is even higher in our region. Last year one in four young candidates won. Soon we will find out the results for this year," Lyulin concluded.
Preliminary results of the vote in the election to the Duma of Nizhny Novgorod were announced earlier.
