High fire danger has developed in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

       Society. According to the FSBI "Upper Volga UGMS", from 15 to 17 September 2025 high (class 4) fire danger for forests and peatlands is forecast in parts of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. This was warned by the regional EMERCOM press service.

      Under these conditions, the risk of emergencies related to forest fires increases. The number of fire outbreaks may rise and the area of active fires may expand, potentially threatening populated areas and economic facilities.

      The agency strongly recommends that citizens be especially careful during this period and strictly observe fire safety rules. When a high or extreme fire danger level is declared, people should avoid visiting forests.

      It is necessary to refrain from burning rubbish on garden and dacha plots, as well as near forest stands. It is forbidden to light campfires in forests, to smoke, and to throw burning matches and cigarette butts. It is also important not to leave glass bottles, shards and other litter on sunny forest glades, which can become a source of ignition.

      If a wildfire is discovered, it is necessary to immediately report the incident to emergency services and call the firefighters.

      According to the Ministry of Forestry of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, 27 forest fires have been extinguished on forest fund lands since the beginning of the fire-hazard season, 14 of which were caused by people.
