      Revival of ancient traditions in the heart of the City of Labor Valor

      A historical program was held in Dzerzhinsk to mark the fourth anniversary of the city being awarded the honorary title "City of Labor Valor." Visitors to the event had the opportunity to watch demonstration fencing performances using swords characteristic of the early and late Middle Ages. Guests were also invited to try shooting with a bow. In addition, participants were told about various types of historical equipment, including armor, shields and weapons. Those interested could try on the displayed gear and ask the instructors questions.

      Among the guests at the celebration was local resident Maria Poluektova, who came with her five-year-old son.

      "When I find out that the historical fencing club is holding events, I always try to attend. The 'Land of Ancestors' festival left an indelible impression on me. I like how knowledgeable the guys are about reconstruction, what interesting facts they tell, and that they are open to anyone. If my son decides to take up historical fencing, I will fully support him," Maria Poluektova said.

      Margarita Kuvshinova, a member of the historical fencing club for the past six months, noted that interest in this discipline among girls and women is as high as among young people.

      "I know a lot of girls and women who love this sport; they live it and prove that they can be strong too. I hope that soon more women will join our movement in Dzerzhinsk," Margarita Kuvshinova shared.

      As reported, Dzerzhinsk is seeing active development of events dedicated to history and patriotism. Thus, from July 11 to 13, 2025 a large-scale festival, "Dopaminefest," took place, which brought together cultural, sporting and business events. This is happening against the backdrop of the celebration of the fourth anniversary of the city being awarded the title City of Labor Valor. In addition, the historical fencing club "Legion" continues its activities and on July 19 invites everyone to take part in training duels at the Tenth military-patriotic historical festival at the "Sputnik" youth center.
