A rise in demand for tutors to prepare students for the Unified State Exam has been recorded in Nizhny Novgorod.

      In August, Nizhny Novgorod saw a significant increase in demand for tutors specializing in preparation for the Unified State Exam (EGE). The portal "Zhivyom v Nizhny" reported this, citing data from the press office of a free classifieds service.

      Over the past year, demand for chemistry tutors has increased by 73%. Tutors began offering their services 53% more often compared with last year. Interest in biology preparation also rose noticeably — by 65%, in physics — by 61%, and in advanced (profile) mathematics — by 18%.

      Analysts note that demand for humanities subjects is also growing. For example, interest in history lessons increased by 19%, and in social studies by 41%.

      Compared with July, August saw a particularly notable rise in interest in advanced mathematics — it tripled. Demand for social studies teachers grew 2.5 times, for biology — 2.3 times, for computer science — 2.2 times, while for chemistry and physics it increased by 59% and 53% respectively. Interest in Russian language lessons also grew, but less markedly — by 47%.

      The cost of a single lesson varies depending on the subject. On average, lessons in chemistry, social studies, history, advanced mathematics and biology start at 1,000 rubles. Physics lessons are slightly more expensive — from 1,200 rubles.

      Recall that this year 72 graduates of Nizhny Novgorod schools received the highest score on the Unified State Exam. Of these, 69 people achieved an excellent result in one subject, and three in two subjects. Most often students scored 100 points in literature — 25 cases — and in the Russian language — 20.
