      On 11 September in Nizhny Novgorod a farewell was held for the ataman of the Western District of the Volga Cossack Host, Alexey Dundukov. According to the diocese, he was killed in August this year in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

      A drone struck the car in which the ataman was riding. As a result of the tragedy six Cossacks were killed and two others were wounded.

      The funeral service for Alexey Dundukov took place in the Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky. He was buried at Bugrovskoye Cemetery in Nizhny Novgorod.

      Dundukov repeatedly headed the Nizhny Novgorod City Cossack Society. On the official website of the Western District Cossack Society he is still listed as ataman and military elder.
