The construction of a school for 1,100 students on Kosmicheskaya Street in Nizhny Novgorod is planned to be completed by the end of 2025. As representatives of the regional Ministry of Education and Science said in response to a resident’s question on VKontakte, by early January the contractor expects to receive permission to commission the facility.
Recall that the school was initially being built under a concession agreement with a subsidiary of the Corporation for the Development of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The general contractor was the Novosibirsk company LLC "AMT-Group." The handover of the school was scheduled for the end of 2024; however, the deadlines were repeatedly postponed for various reasons. In the summer of 2025 the Development Corporation terminated the contract and decided to complete the construction itself.
A similar situation occurred with another facility — a school for 1,100 places in Dzerzhinsk, where work was also delayed. The contract with the Novosibirsk company was annulled there as well. Overall readiness of both schools is about 85%.
At present "AMT-Group" is contesting the contract terminations in court. The company insists the concessionaire’s actions were illegal and sought to prohibit it from receiving payments under the bank guarantee and from continuing construction. Initially the court adopted interim measures, but soon lifted them, citing a threat to residents’ interests and potential losses to the budget.
Earlier it was reported that the project for the new academic building of School No. 118 in Nizhny Novgorod received a negative conclusion from the state examination.
