Nearly 50,000 medical consultations have been provided to residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Region on the "Health Trains" since the beginning of the year. Most often they sought out specialists such as general practitioners, cardiologists, otorhinolaryngologists (ENT doctors), neurologists and endocrinologists, the Nizhny Novgorod Region Ministry of Health said.
As noted by the N.A. Semashko Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital, from August to September patients of the "Health Trains" more often than usual required surgical care. People experiencing problems after heavy physical exertion—such as during harvests or active outdoor work—visit the surgeon.
"In practice, the muscles and ligaments of gardeners and allotment workers are often not prepared for sudden physical exertion. Lifting heavy objects or prolonged staying in the same position can also have a negative effect on the body. Previously sustained strains, bruises or inflammations may make themselves felt during this period. Exacerbations of chronic musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis, arthrosis, osteochondrosis, rheumatism and others are also possible," said Olga Kolchik, head of the department for organizing the work of mobile medical teams at the N.A. Semashko Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital.
The physician emphasized that prolonged periods spent in a "head-down" position can increase the strain on the heart, so when harvesting it's better to try to use a small stool.
"If after working outdoors you develop shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, weakness or dizziness, you should immediately stop any physical activity. Remember that any adverse symptoms are a reason to see a doctor, at least for preventive purposes," the doctor concluded.
Recall that the "Health Trains" project has been implemented at the initiative of Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin since 2018. The operation of mobile diagnostic complexes makes it possible to achieve the goals and objectives set out in the new national project "Long and Active Life."
The "Health Trains" schedule is updated monthly. Current information can be found on the regional Ministry of Health's website.
The national project "Long and Active Life" launched nationwide in 2025 at the direction of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is aimed at the expected increase in life expectancy by 2030 and envisages further upgrading of polyclinics, outpatient clinics and feldsher-midwife stations, attracting increasing numbers of qualified medical personnel to healthcare institutions, applying new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases, improving emergency medical care and rehabilitation systems, developing a network of national research centers, and digitalizing the sector.
The national project includes 11 federal projects: "Health for Everyone," "Modernization of Primary Healthcare," "Medical Personnel," "Combating Cardiovascular Diseases," "Combating Oncological Diseases," "Combating Diabetes," "Combating Hepatitis and Minimizing the Risks of Disease Spread," "Improving Emergency Medical Care," "Development of Federal Medical Organizations, including the Development of a Network of National Research Centers," the national platform "Health," and "Optimal Medical Rehabilitation for Health Recovery."
