Gorky Railway will launch new tourist routes in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The Gorky Main Line is preparing to launch a series of themed suburban tourist routes (6+) — they will begin operating in autumn 2025. The initiative is being implemented as part of the domestic tourism development program, the Gorky Railway's press service said.

      On 17 September the steam-hauled retro train "Tchaikovsky Express," running on the Izhevsk–Votkinsk route, will return to service. A total of 10 trips are planned: from the 17th to the 21st and from the 24th to the 28th of September.

      The carriages are decorated in a pre-revolutionary style, and the conductors wear late 19th-century uniforms. Items from private collections and antique shops were used for the decor. Passengers will be able to visit Votkinsk — the town where Pyotr Tchaikovsky spent his childhood and where his musical talents began to emerge. At the composer's museum-estate, guests will be given a theatrical tour with interactive elements, as well as a walk through the park and the grounds of the complex.

      At the end of September the themed train "In the Footsteps of Writers," running on the Nizhny Novgorod–Arzamas route, will also resume service. A trip on the retro train will be an interesting weekend option for both schoolchildren and adults.

      During the tour participants will be able to get acquainted with Arzamas's key sights — among them the Spassky Monastery and the memorial house-museums of A.M. Gorky and A.P. Gaidar.

      Another themed route will run in autumn in the direction of Nizhny Novgorod–Bolshoye Boldino. The tour will be multimodal: a suburban train will take tourists to Uzhovka station, and then they will be transferred to a bus going to the village of Boldino.

      Guests will be able to truly feel the atmosphere of Boldino's autumn and also take part in a traditional ball.

      The A.S. Pushkin Museum Reserve in Bolshoye Boldino is one of Russia's main literary sites. It is a cultural monument of federal significance and the only one of Pushkin's estates that survived the revolutions and wars.
