The court lifted the ban on completing the construction of two schools in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      The Arbitration Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has lifted previously imposed provisional measures that had suspended construction of two schools. This is stated in the arbitration case files.

      The schools are on Kosmicheskaya Street in Nizhny Novgorod and on Klyukvina Street in Dzerzhinsk. Each is designed for 1,100 students.

      They were initially being built by the Novosibirsk company AMT-Group, but in the summer the Regional Development Corporation terminated its contracts with the firm, citing missed deadlines and unused advance payments.

      After the contract termination the contractor filed lawsuits, insisting the client's actions were unlawful. In addition, it demanded a ban on completing the buildings and sought payments under bank guarantees, arguing that this could "nullify the result" of work already performed.

      On August 27 the court imposed provisional measures. However, on September 3 subsidiaries of the Development Corporation, acting as concessionaires, petitioned for their cancellation. LLC AMT-Group filed objections, but the court sided with the client.

      The court's decision states that a ban on continuing construction could lead to the loss of work already completed and cause damage to the regional budget. Moreover, the suspension of the project harms the interests of residents for whom the schools have important social significance.

      The ruling also notes that the decision can be appealed in the manner prescribed by law.

      It was previously reported that the overall completion of both schools is about 85%. The Development Corporation, having assumed the role of general contractor, expects to complete construction of both schools by the end of 2025.

      It also emerged that the state examination rejected the construction project for a new academic building of School No. 118 in the Moskovsky District of Nizhny Novgorod.
