More than 170,000 people participated in the summer events organized with the involvement of the Institute for Demographic Development.

      The Institute of Demographic Development summed up the results of family events organized for Nizhny Novgorod residents during the summer period. In total, over three months, 16 major events took place in the region with the organization’s participation — from sports competitions to festivals and celebrations. More than 170,000 people joined them in all.

      The events in the summer program were devoted to issues of family support and strengthening family traditions; their goal was to develop active family leisure in the region.

      For example, as part of the Family Festival in the Nizhny Novgorod region, celebratory events were held dedicated to Children’s Day, Russia Day, Youth Day and the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity. Interactive zones with animators, cozy photo zones, specialized stations with face painting and comfortable rest areas were available for participants. Everyone could take part in engaging master classes and games such as the branded Twister “Osnova,” participate in the “Giant Soap Bubbles” show and dive into the world of creativity at the “Osnova” large coloring area.

      Active leisure activities were especially popular with residents and guests of the region, such as air hockey, inflatable darts and sub-soccer, as well as wellness practices — yoga classes, breathing exercises and even standing on a bed of nails.

      In August the Institute of Demographic Development was represented at the family eco-festival “ArtLuga.” At themed stations, guests were invited to join master classes on making candles, aroma sachets, wreaths and drawings, as well as lectures and practical sessions with family psychologists. These events brought together more than two thousand people.

      Among the main sports events of summer 2025 held with the participation of the Institute of Demographic Development were the football match “Khimik” vs. “Amkar” in Dzerzhinsk, the regional stage of the GTO festival, the 3×3 basketball tournament “Match of Cup Friends,” the opening of the first padel center in Nizhny Novgorod, the All-Russian festival of the amateur league “Football Moms” and the sports-patriotic festival “My Strength.” Together the organizers managed to gather about 7,500 sports enthusiasts.

      The final event of the summer was a Family Quiz organized jointly with the project “Kviz, pliz!” on August 30 and 31. The intellectual competition featured 17 teams — 87 people in total.

      All events attracted people of different ages and statuses. Among the participants were families with children, expectant mothers, young couples planning to have a child. Programs were developed taking into account the principles of maintaining health, creative self-realization and a positive approach to parenting. Each event not only provided interesting leisure but also encouraged physical activity, inspired creativity and strengthened the foundations of a happy family life in the region.

      “We thank Nizhny Novgorod residents for their active participation in the summer projects. We strive to create conditions for the development of family traditions and the strengthening of generational continuity through sports and social initiatives. An important part of our work is supporting accessible and interesting formats that bring families together and increase their commitment to a healthy lifestyle. In the autumn we will continue to develop these directions to make the region even more comfortable and attractive for family life,” said Evgeny Zhuravlev, Director of the Institute of Demographic Development.

      It should be recalled that work to stabilize the demographic situation in the region is being carried out in accordance with the goals and objectives of the new national project “Family.” By decision of the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, the period from 2025 to 2030 has been declared the Five-Year Period of the Family in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
