      The Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the Russian Military-Historical Society (RMHS) has officially admitted 236 people, IA "Vremya N" reports.

      According to the chairman of the branch council, Ivan Kalmykov, interest in the organization's activities is steadily growing. At the moment, several dozen more applications from residents of the region wishing to join the RMHS are under consideration.

      As Kalmykov noted, the society's ranks are primarily joined by professional historians, local historians, educators, cultural institution workers, tour guides, and civil servants. However, there are also those who previously had no connection to the historical field.

      The council chairman emphasized that one of the key tasks at the current stage is developing a network of local branches. This will allow like-minded people to unite and support significant projects related to Russia's military history.

      According to Kalmykov, special attention is paid to preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War, countering historical falsifications, and implementing initiatives related to the Special Military Operation. An important focus also remains commemorating the feats of heroes from different eras.

      It should be recalled that in July 2025 the governor, Gleb Nikitin, became chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the RMHS.
