A clandestine marijuana plantation was raided in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      Officers of the Drug Trafficking Control Department of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Nizhny Novgorod Region thwarted the activities of two men who were illegally cultivating and preparing a large batch of marijuana for sale.

      Law enforcement detained two residents of the region, aged 52 and 36. They had no prior convictions. During searches of their homes, more than 450 grams of the narcotic substance were found, as well as equipment used for cultivating and packaging marijuana. Cash was also seized.

      It turned out that the men had organized an entire mini-plant for drug production in the Vadsky district. On a plot of land belonging to one of the detainees, a workshop was set up where cannabis was grown. After harvest, the plants were dried and then packaged into individual doses in a shed.

      During the search of the shed, operatives found seven bags containing a plant-based substance, a charcoal filter, lamps, cannabis seeds, and a sack with parts of dried plants. All seized materials have been sent for examination.

      A criminal case has been opened in connection with this incident. The suspects face imprisonment for a term of 10 to 20 years.

      Earlier it was reported that in the Lyskovsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod Region police caught a drug dealer with a large consignment.
