      The head of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, congratulated the women's futsal team "Normanochka" on their confident performance on the international stage and on finishing second in the World Cup.

      The governor's message appeared on his official Telegram channel. He noted that the athletes represented Russia with dignity, demonstrated the strength of domestic futsal and proved that sport can overcome any borders.

      "Congratulations to the girls, to our whole team and to the fans. In four years of World Cup participation, 'Normanochka' has already won bronze twice. This year we climbed another step, and the Russian anthem was played in the final! Thank you for the game! We believe in you and are proud!" wrote Gleb Nikitin.

      He emphasized that the team fought not only for Nizhny Novgorod but for the whole country, and through their perseverance showed that Russian sport continues to remain at a high level.

      Earlier it was reported that the Nizhny Novgorod hockey club "Torpedo" ended its run at the Moscow Mayor's Cup with a series of defeats.
