Society From September 1 in Nizhny Novgorod tram route No. 27 will operate in a reduced format — only five cars will remain on the line with intervals of up to 15 minutes. This was reported in the VKontakte group "New Route Network of the Nizhny Novgorod Agglomeration."
The Center for the Development of the Transport System explained that the main passenger flow on this route falls on the section from Moskovsky Railway Station to Lyadov Square.
At the same time, tram No. 18, which duplicates part of route No. 27, shows one of the lowest load factors among city trams. In a day it carried fewer than two thousand people, whereas, for example, route No. 5 served more than 6,800 passengers over the same period.
In September, tram No. 2 is planned to be launched, which will connect Chyorny Pond and Maslyakov Street.
Taking these circumstances into account, as well as a shortage of drivers that makes it difficult to maintain a full timetable across all directions, it was decided to terminate route No. 27 at Lyadov Square, near Kulibin Street. This change was considered the most rational under the current conditions, the Center for the Development of the Transport System noted.
To make transfers between routes more convenient, an additional stop will be added on Pushkin Street. It will allow passengers to change from one tram to another in the same place.
The schedules of trams No. 27 and No. 18 will also be coordinated. This will ensure the possibility of comfortable transfers, including to routes No. 2, No. 5 and No. 21.
