      The long-awaited opening of the Boxing Center took place in Gorodets. The event was timed to coincide with International Boxing Day, observed on August 27.

      "Today the Boxing Center that we are opening in Gorodets is worth one and a half million dollars. This is a real facility — with a project, with documentation, with an honest approach," emphasized Andrey Gogolev, head of the state enterprise of the Nizhny Novgorod region "Leaders of Sport."

      The two-story building covers almost 988 square meters. The first floor houses a spacious hall with a 7x7-meter ring, a spectator stand, locker rooms with showers and toilets, a medical office and a dry-heat chamber. Service rooms are also provided. The second floor is allocated to administrative and utility areas.

      Special attention was paid to accessibility during the design: the building is fully adapted for people with reduced mobility. Tennis courts are located on the adjacent grounds.

      Honored athletes, Olympic champions, coaches, students of sports schools and city residents were invited to the opening ceremony. In honor of the occasion, exhibition bouts were held between boxers from the Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow regions.

      Recall that the Center was originally planned to open back in April, then by Russia Day on June 12, later — at the end of June. The last possible date mentioned was September 10, 2025.

      It was previously reported that "Chaika" would be the first to play at the new Ice Arena in Nizhny Novgorod.
