The regional branch of the Russian Military-Historical Society handed over 14 sets of books on the history of Russia and the Donbass to the city of Khartsyzsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic. The books themselves were delivered to the sponsored city in the DPR by employees of the Avangard Patriotic Education Center, who arrived there on a working visit on 25 August.

“The regional branch of the Russian Military-Historical Society prepared for the schools of Khartsyzsk collections of books ‘Collectors of the Russian Land.’ Each set contains 25 publications, whose protagonists are the great rulers who have forever entered the history of our country, those who defended the Motherland and expanded its lands. The creator of this chronicle is the chairman of the RMHS, Vladimir Rostislavovich Medinsky,” said the governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, chairman of the regional branch of the RMHS, Gleb Nikitin.

As noted by the regional branch of the RMHS, knowledge of a shared history will help the younger generation become true citizens of their country, proud of their roots and ready for new achievements.

The purpose of the working visit by the employees of the Avangard Patriotic Education Center was to develop interregional cooperation in the field of patriotic education, strengthen ties with the Donetsk People’s Republic and exchange experience in youth education. The Nizhny Novgorod delegation, together with representatives of the administration of the Khartsyzsk urban district, laid flowers at the “Heroes of the Unannounced War” monument.

“Today we are pleased to welcome the delegation of the Avangard Patriotic Education Center and gladly accept the books on the history of Russia and the Donbass from the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Russian Military-Historical Society. These valuable publications will be transferred to the schools of Khartsyzsk, which will become an important step in the patriotic education of our children. We are confident that knowledge of our history and culture will help the younger generation to delve deeper into the heritage of our country,” said the first deputy head of the administration of the Khartsyzsk urban district, Alexander Gutrov.

The visit program concluded with an open meeting with the youth of Khartsyzsk — the Nizhny Novgorod delegation spoke about the exhibition of the Avangard Patriotic Education Center dedicated to cities of labor valor in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.

As noted by Avangard, the visit of the center’s representatives to Khartsyzsk was an important step toward strengthening educational ties between Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and the Donetsk People’s Republic. The exchange of experience and joint initiatives will help create more effective mechanisms of patriotic education, which, in turn, will contribute to the formation of an active civic position among young people.

Recall that on 9 June 2022, the governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Gleb Nikitin and the head of the Khartsyzsk urban district Victoria Zhukova signed a cooperation agreement between the city and the region. At that time, at Gleb Nikitin’s initiative, a decision was made to install a monument to the fallen defenders of the DPR, which was unveiled in 2024. Defenders of the Donbass from 2014 and participants in the special military operation took part in the discussion of the future monument. The laying of flowers became a symbol of remembrance for those who gave their lives defending the Motherland and continue to fight for the peaceful future of the country.
