      Residents of Nizhny Novgorod are invited to take part in the regional stage of the All-Russian competition "The Image of the Defender of the Fatherland in the Works of Young Artists" (6+). Pupils of children's art schools and students of specialized colleges and universities may submit their works to the competition. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The festival-competition is timed to the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland and is being held by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in the year marking the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The aim of the competition is to preserve historical memory, to express respect and gratitude to veterans of the Great Patriotic War and participants of the special military operation. It is also intended to identify and support gifted children in the fields of fine and decorative-applied arts, to showcase the creative achievements of young artists and the best pedagogical practices of teachers from children's art schools, professional educational institutions and higher education institutions.

      The organizer of the competition is the Federal Resource Information and Analytical Center for Art Education of the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music. The organizer of the regional stage is the Educational and Methodological Center for Art Education.

      Pupils of children's art schools and students of vocational colleges and universities may take part in the regional stage of the competition. The competition includes three categories: "Painting", "Graphics" and "Sculpture".       Educational organizations must submit works for the regional selection to the Ministry of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region by September 22. The regional selection of the best works will conclude on October 13 — the commission will select no more than 24 works from the region to participate in the federal stage of the competition.

      Winners of the regional stage advance to the federal stage. The results of the federal jury's review of the works in the All-Russian competition "The Image of the Defender of the Fatherland in the Works of Young Artists" will be known no later than December 22. The works of the festival-competition laureates will be displayed in an online exhibition format on the Federal Portal of the Education System in the Field of Culture and the Arts.

      The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, as the founder of the competition, may decide to exhibit the works of the laureates and diploma winners of the competition as part of various events dedicated to the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, and after its conclusion — during other events at exhibition venues in Moscow and other regions.
