      Incidents—The former head of the procurement department of the municipal road maintenance enterprise in Sarov has been found guilty of taking a bribe and exceeding official powers. This was reported by the regional directorates of the FSB and the Investigative Committee for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The investigation established that in 2023 the official received from a representative of a commercial organization at least 200,000 rubles for ensuring the conclusion of contracts for the supply of equipment. These contracts were issued without holding competitive procedures as part of the implementation of the national project "Comfortable Urban Environment." The total amount of the contracts concluded exceeded 8 million rubles.

      As a result of the illegal actions, the enterprise concluded three contracts with one company chosen as the sole supplier. Such actions were qualified as exceeding authority out of selfish interest and receiving a bribe on a large scale.

      The Sarov City Court found the man guilty under Articles 286 and 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. He was sentenced to 5 years' imprisonment suspended, a fine of 1.1 million rubles, and a five-year ban on working in the field of state and municipal procurement.

      The verdict has not yet come into legal force.
