      The Volga Transport Prosecutor's Office uncovered a scheme to illegally transfer more than 380 million rubles abroad and succeeded in having the transaction declared invalid, the supervisory authority's press service reported.

      During an inspection of compliance with legislation on combating illegal financial transactions, it was established that a foreign commercial company and an affiliated Russian firm had concluded an assignment of claim agreement. Under the terms of the deal, it was planned to recover a large sum from a water transport enterprise in the Nizhny Novgorod Region and then transfer the funds abroad.

      However, such an arrangement violated the rules established for settlements with foreign counterparties. According to the legislation, such operations must be conducted through special accounts, which was not done.

      The prosecutor's office joined the arbitration proceedings in the lawsuit filed by the Russian enterprise, seeking to have the transaction declared invalid. Earlier, the Moscow Arbitration Court had dismissed the claim, but thanks to the supervisory authority's intervention the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal overturned that decision.

      As a result, the assignment agreement was declared invalid and the attempt to transfer the funds out of the country was stopped.

      Earlier it was reported that a woman from Nizhny Novgorod received a prison sentence for illegal foreign currency operations involving 62 million rubles.
