Digital hospitality: Rostelecom set up public Wi‑Fi at MFCs in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      The company Rostelecom activated the "Wi‑Fi for Guests" service in ten multifunctional centers for the provision of state and municipal services (MFCs) in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Wireless access points went online in the MFCs of Nizhny Novgorod and Dzerzhinsk.

      Company specialists equipped the client halls of the MFC branches with dedicated communication channels and installed network equipment. Both visitors and center staff can connect to the Wi‑Fi for free. Authorization is carried out by calling 8 800, by an SMS with a code, or via the Gosuslugi portal. Up to 50 users can access the Internet simultaneously. The connection speed — 100 Mbps — is proportionally distributed among devices registered on the network.

      Evgeny Petrov, Vice President, Director of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of PJSC Rostelecom:

      "The wireless internet access network is expanding in the Nizhny Novgorod region. As a result, there was an urgent need to rapidly deploy Wi‑Fi in the region's multifunctional centers. Given the social significance of the project, we tried to minimize the implementation time. This is thanks to our technical specialists. The first days of the service's operation confirm its high demand. At any given time each branch records about 30 registrations."

      "Wi‑Fi in MFC branches significantly eases citizens' access to services. Many procedures are carried out using the internet. For example, when using the 'GosQR' service. Visitors scan the code and data are quickly transferred from the applicant's electronic profile to the MFC's information system. Internet access is also necessary for the prompt payment of state fees for a number of services at MFC branches via online banking."

      With Rostelecom's "Wi‑Fi for Guests" service, it is easy to provide visitors to various institutions with internet access. The company will deploy the network taking user traffic into account, install and configure the equipment. The service includes a personal account from which access functions can be managed and the start page customized.
