      The investigation of a criminal case against the director of a commercial organization, accused of large-scale embezzlement and attempting to conceal the crime through a front person, has been completed in Dzerzhinsk. This was reported by the Nizhny Novgorod regional directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

      According to the case materials, as early as 2011 a contract for the supply of electricity was concluded between an energy-supplying company of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the accused’s firm. Under the terms of the agreement, the supplier was obliged to supply the company with electricity, and its manager was to regularly pay for the resources consumed.

      However, in the period from February to April 2019, having received a bill for more than 6.7 million rubles, the company director paid only about 1 million. The remaining funds, received from tenants for electricity, he appropriated and used for personal purposes. The damage caused to the energy-supplying organization amounted to more than 5.7 million rubles.

      To avoid liability, the suspect attempted to mislead the investigation. He entered false information into the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, registering a front person as general director. For a token remuneration of 1,500 rubles that person agreed to formally take the leadership post, having no involvement in the company’s management.

      The investigation collected a sufficient evidentiary base confirming the accused’s guilt. His actions were qualified under subparagraph “b” of part 2 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing property damage by deception) and subparagraphs “a, b” of part 2 of Article 173.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (entering deliberately false information into the state register of legal entities).

      To compensate for the damage, the accused’s property — a house and a plot of land with a total value of 11 million rubles — has been seized.

      The criminal case, with an approved indictment, has been forwarded to the Dzerzhinsk City Court for consideration on the merits.
